The Details

With its roots in one of the first schools founded for young women in the New World of 1772, Salem Academy and College has embarked on exciting changes for the 21st century. Their first Master Plan, which we developed in 2001, provides a road map for growth and change over the next 25 years as well as guides the institution in the use and improvements of its existing facilities.

The most important new facility will be a student center in the heart of the campus connecting the College with the Academy. Other improvements include new dormitory facilities, a new entrance to the Academy, upgrades for almost all the buildings and a plan for conservation of the major campus trees.

Some of the first projects after the Master plan have been improvements to campus signs, perimeters and entrances. Also, the first building on campus, 222-year-old Single Sisters, has recently been renovated.
