The Greenbrier is an award-winning resort located in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. A National Historic Landmark, The Greenbrier's blend of classic architecture and unsurpassed recreational amenities on 6,500 scenic acres has attracted distinguished guests from around the world since 1778.

Since the resort's landscape is of such critical importance to The Greenbrier, management asked Van Yahres Associates to take a comprehensive look at the state of the central grounds and to recommend a series of improvements in maintenance, management and design. The resulting Grounds Management and Improvement Plan consists of three distinct but interrelated components - a grounds maintenance and management program, a tree preservation plan and a design assessment and improvement plan for the resort's principal outdoor spaces. By recognizing the interdependence of grounds maintenance and design, The Greenbrier's owners are taking essential steps to keep this historic landscape beautiful, vibrant and healthy.
