The Master Plan for Columbus Technical College’s new River Road Campus will guide redevelopment of the former manufacturing site. Van Yahres Associates was asked to develop a long-range plan for the 27-acre campus, until recently the site of a carpet mill.
VYA helped Columbus Tech develop the program for the new campus. It included three new classroom buildings, a complex of structures designed to house the commercial and industrial trades programs and parking for over 800 vehicles. Construction began on the first building, the new Health Sciences Center, immediately on completion of the Master Plan.
The campus is organized around a central Campus Green and features a number of insightful environmental features, including a meandering stream reclaimed from a buried culvert.
