In the forty years since it was established, Columbus State has grown rapidly, placing heavy demands on its campus in the process. As new facilities have been added, the campus has sprawled outward, overwhelming the grounds crews’ capacity to maintain it adequately and dramatically impacting the remnants of the native ecosystems.
Our Campus Improvement aims to address both of these issues. It recommends a number of capital improvements to the campus landscape, including circulation improvements and innovative “Wild Gardens” designed to reduce maintenance demands and reintroduce the native landscape to the core of the campus. It also recommends new design and maintenance standards for all campus projects. VYA has also completed preliminary designs for the first capital project recommended by the Plan, the new campus entrance and Student Success Center Plaza.
